Melting
into the space
People think of themselves as the main character, as if the world revolves around them. In a time of great dullness, however, this perspective changes. They begin to feel as if they are not the main character; the world does not revolve around them. They are only a small portion in the world.
2011.03.18 (fri) A day when I have nothing making me do something; I feel so comfortable that I actually seem to melt into my room and become a part of it. As if I did not exist and I am a part of the room, not a separate entity. At this moment, I can hear the sound of clock ticking away. Not something that I usually hear. Letting me know that all the noisy thoughts in my head became quiet and my heart and mind peaceful and tranquil. I am still at this moment a greedy human being, but for an instant, I feel as if I can let everything go and just let it flow.
I used a planar figure to describe my room. It is different from the conventional planar figure of a room, not only is the walls and ceiling described in it but lots of objects and even I am described in it to express that everything is a part of the room.
The hardest part in this piece was getting the best angle for the shot and especially getting the shot for the floor. It could have been better if the messiness of the room was expressed more realistically.
A semitransparent version of the fifth piece was installed on to a platform. Lighting and rotating motor was used to display it. Through this effect, the objects and the room was expressed as one entity. Everything melted in together.
